SAN MARCOS, CALIF. (Oct. 14, 2015) – More than 80 San Marcos Unified School District high school students were presented with many career & college resources at the San Marcos College & Career Expo organized by the World Wide Network of Learning and California Community Colleges – San Diego Region on Wednesday, Oct. The San Marcos Unified School District Career Technical Education (CTE) program engaged in activities that will enhance their career development.
“The Expo is aimed at providing local students with knowledge of various career and educational opportunities to develop our region’s future workforce,” said Joseph Molina, Small Business Sector Navigator – California Community Colleges.
The expo provided the latest tools and ideas in career opportunities and the college experience, including a college “Shark Tank” pitch competition, STEM careers, financial literacy, Job Readiness and more. This event was specifically targeted for high school students interested in college and becoming career ready.
Tom Stinson from Assembly member Marie Waldron’s office addressed students on the importance of education. Palomar, MiraCosta and Platt College participated in a pitch competition. Wendy Lyon, “The Financial Lyon”, provided students with great resources and tools on financial literacy. Students also received great insight from Jamie Meditz about job readiness skills, which included how to prepare for a successful interview.
